Civil penalties belong to the owner. DOB makes you pay some of them, such as on work-without-permit summonses, before it approves a correction. We tell you which ones apply.
We check BIS after DOB acts and report the result to you.
Look for a cure date on your summons. If the front shows one, DOB can accept a Certificate of Correction by that date. If DOB accepts the timely cure, the summons can be resolved without a hearing or penalty. Send us the summons the day it arrives.
